The Derek Silva Community is a 68-unit, six-story landmark apartment complex in San Francisco’s Civic Center District. Originally built in 1910, K2A provided full design services for a complete renovation and seismic upgrade, relocating the residential entry onto Franklin St., to provide a more secure and private access for the residents.

The new double height lobby is a welcome first impression home, complete with baby grand piano, residents’ art gallery, and plush seating areas. Each apartment unit was renovated to receive new kitchens and bathrooms, and several units were upgraded for full-accessibility and special needs tenants. Additional amenities include multi-purpose, computer and exercise facilities, conference room with kitchen, and bicycle storage.
